The objective for this assignment was to create a 30 second introduction video for a short documentary assignment. This assignment’s subject is someone I know and is about their online presence. As a result I decided to incorporate their clockwork styled logo into the design.
The initial inspiration for the storyboarding process drew from a handful of other medias, including the animated series “Cowboy Bebop” and “Monster’s Inc”, namely these were chosen because of their unique introduction credits. After review and revision inspiration was also drawn from the Iron Man movie’s credits scene at the end of the movie.
This inspiration pushed an emphasis on dynamic shapes being involved, with the use of a three dimensional environment proving critical for creating an engaging and interesting set of transitions for various text appearances, all edited and composited in Adobe Premiere Pro.
Overall this assignment taught me many important things about animation development, from story boarding and conceptualization to vision boarding and actual production, and has presented me a new understanding of design.
