The assignment was to create a magazine cover based on a current news article. The article I chose was one in regards to Apple and Samsung using joint software for compatibility with texts and airdrop functionality.
I ended up choosing to make my magazine cover resemble the “Time Magazine” cover, with much of the text and shapes being used primarily for blockouts and mockups at this point in time, generally just understanding the color.
This depiction is much more fleshed out, with two other articles included on the cover and an actual background image used to create a more “real” sense of the concept, with new details being added such as the receptacles on each of the phones.
The final version shares some details with the previous depiction, namely the two secondary articles on the bottom, with refinements made to the article title, the “Time” logo, and details with the phones. The phones also recieved a more “frutiger” style color palette, with the individual file icons using a separate color palette that ends up fitting the more colorful aesthetics.
