The EDF Light Cruiser is a design from the original second season of “Space Battleship Yamato”, its original name is “Patrol Cruiser” and it is a design that made a reappearance in the “remake” version of Space Battleship Yamato, part of the “2202” season. It made a reappearance alongside its frigate counterpart.
My depiction of the EDF “Patrol Cruiser” does vary heavily from the source material in many regards. While much of the armament remains similar to the depiction of the source material, my version does make two extremely noticeable changes.
My version of the EDF Light Cruiser has it’s “Wave Motion Gun” (the hole in the bow seen on the Frigate and some other larger ships) removed, similar to the way it’s done on the EDF Destroyer. I chose to do this for a personal reason of interpretation of fleet action within the universe’s setting. My other change was to add a few small greeble objects that appear on all the other ship designs from the universe, which appear on the cruiser as four small dark boxes, which have similar appearances on the frigate and destroyer in a similar location.
