Ocean Education Week Inspires Local Schools

Ocean Literacy Outreach hosted its annual Ocean Education Week, partnering with five local
schools to deliver interactive lessons on marine ecosystems, climate change, and conservation.
Students explored virtual tide pools, built food web models, and learned how everyday choices
affect ocean health. Teachers praised the program for its hands-on approach and alignment with
science standards. Guest speakers included marine biologists and conservationists who shared
real-world experiences. Students participated in group projects and created posters advocating
for ocean protection. The week concluded with a school-wide assembly featuring student
presentations and a pledge to reduce plastic use. Feedback from educators suggests expanding
the program to additional schools next year.
