Youth Art Contest Celebrates Ocean Life

To celebrate World Oceans Day, Ocean Literacy Outreach organized a youth art contest inviting
students to submit artwork inspired by marine life. Over 200 entries were received, ranging from
watercolor whales to digital coral reefs. Winning pieces were displayed at the Santa Marina
Community Center and featured on the Blue Horizon Initiative website. The contest encouraged
creative expression and environmental awareness among young artists. Participants received
certificates and ocean-themed prizes. Judges included local artists and marine educators who
evaluated entries based on creativity and message. Plans are underway to publish a digital gallery
and host a traveling exhibit to showcase the artwork in neighboring communities.
